BioNorth Energy is a joint-venture partnership between the Arrow Group of Companies, the Nak’azdli Development Corporation, the economic development arm of the Nak’azdli First Nation and low-carbon infrastructure developer, Nexus PMG.
The BioNorth Energy logo was created by Nak’azdli Whut’en member Jolene Prince and weaves together several elements to tell a rich story of nature, history and relationships.


Recommissioned in 2022, this flagship operation utilizes forest waste biomass to produce clean energy, and employs 30 highly-skilled, full-time employees. This facility is a 40-mega-watt biomass power generation plant.

Empowering our community and people
This facility employees approximately 30 individuals. From power engineers, millwrights, electricians and instrumentation technicians to mobile equipment operators, administrators and supervisors, these people are the heart of the BioNorth Energy project.
34,000 cars
Grinding 200,000m3 of fibre annually provides 162,000 tonnes of net carbon benefits and is equivalent to removing 34,000 cars from the road.
70,000 homes
Producing 40,000 units (kWh) in an hour, this 40-mega-watt facility generates enough power to operate 70,000 single family homes in Northern BC.
Power the North
BC Hydro buys the energy produced from this facility and distributes it across Northern BC to larger cities like Vanderhoof.
